First place in the Raccoon River Conference will be on the line Friday night inside the Perry Pavilion as the 4th ranked Jayettes host 3rd ranked Carlisle.  The story lines will be endless as two of the three front runners in the conference meet for the second time this season.  Not only will the winner better position themselves for a conference championship, but maybe more importantly, secure a top seed in February’s 4A Regional pairings.  Perry avenged last year’s Regional Final loss to Carlisle by knocking off the Wildcats back in early December in a tight back and forth game 66-62.  Both teams enter Friday night riding 9 game winning streak with Carlisle knocking off previously unbeaten Ballard last Friday night.

Perry has used dominate second half performances the past couple of games to keep their winning streak in tact.  The Jayettes trailed by as many as seven in the first half Tuesday night against Woodward Granger.

“Coach Long just knows how to settle us down because sometimes we can get rattled when they score a few buckets,” stated sophomore Emma Olejniczak.  “He was just telling us to calm down and that we know what to do because we have been in these situations before.  It comes down to just playing defense and working the ball around and getting a good shot.”

The Jayettes are still preparing for more crazy defenses down the stretch as teams try to figure out a way to contain Maggie Lowe and Claire Marburger.

“Just working around these silly defenses that teams like to play against us and each game we are getting better and better at that.  When they play box and ones and triangle and two’s, it just about knowing where to go and where to attack and how to get Claire and Maggie the ball.”
