Greene County lost to Gilbert 42-25 and defeated Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) 39-24 in high school wrestling Tuesday night in Gilbert. The Rams and Tigers met in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference match, which saw the Rams fall to 1-4 in the league. Greene County is 6-9 overall in dual meets and will wrestle two HOIAC opponents on KG98 Thursday night in Alleman when they face North Polk and South Hamilton (Jewell). Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. with the first Greene County meet at 6 and the second to follow.
One of the highlight matches of the night saw Ram junior Tommy Bradshaw beat Wyatt Rhoads of Gilbert by a 9-7 at 145 lbs. It was the second win in as many meetings this season between the State Tournament veterans. Other Rams winning vs. the Tigers were Keyden Pollock (182), Abe Yoder (132), Jordan Challen (138), Isaiah Yoder (160), and Mark Kendall (170). Greene County gave up 18 points via three forfeits an dlost by 17.
The match vs. the Knights saw Kuemper forfeit four weights and the Rams forfeit one weight class. Neither team had an entry at 113 lbs. Winning by forfeit for the Rams were Bradshaw, Britton Gallagher (138), Kendall, and Pollock. Kane Borgeson (106), A. Yoder, and I. Yoder won by decision with Challen winning by fall.
