The Greene County Medical Center recently announced its new chief operating officer.
Christa Simons from Jefferson has 30-years experience with the medical center. She was previously the executive director of support services with includes materials management, community relations, human services and payroll, nutritional services, facilities management, environmental services and laundry. As the new COO, she will continue to oversee support services in addition to the outpatient departments such as radiology, laboratory, care management services and therapy.
When she first started with the medical center, she was a registration clerk, then she went to the purchasing department and became storeroom clerk where she eventually became the director of materials management. Simons notes that she’s always had a passion to help others and thought that she could make a difference on the business-side of the hospital to fulfill that passion.
Simons points out one of the most important improvements she’s seen the medical center make in her 30 years.
“Our affiliation with UnityPoint-Health is probably the most exciting. We’ve been affiliated with Iowa Health System for many, many years. But to be able to be an affiliate member and even having the group purchasing organization alignment with them has offered us some tremendous benefits and services.”
Her name job takes place effective immediately.
