Most 6-5 forwards would rather play a slow down, half court style of basketball.  That’s not the case with Perry center Scott James.  The senior has excelled in Ned Menke’s fast paced style of offense this year and is having a lot of fun running the court trying to keep up with his explosive guards.

“Yeah, it is a lot of fun to be a part of,” chuckled James.  “I think my track background and experience at state last year in the 400 and high jump have helped me prepare for this season and all of the running that our team does.  I worked hard on my speed and endurance for this senior year because I knew what type of team we wanted to be.  We like to play a fast paced style and we really try to turn it up on the defensive end.  I feel like I fit right in with that style of play.”

James has been consistent this year on the defensive end averaging 6 rebounds a game and leading the team with 20 blocked shots.  He also is hitting an impressive 82% from the foul line.

James and the Bluejays will try to snap a two game losing skid tonight when they host Boone in a 7:30 tip at the Pavilion.  The Jays are 9-3 and 5-1 while Boone enters 3-6 and will try to rebound from a narrow two point loss to ADM.  You can listen to tonight’s game on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com with Shawn Kenney.
