It was a night to forget for both the ADM girls and boys basketball teams, who were blown out by the Ballard Bombers Friday night in Huxley.
The ADM girls fell to 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in Raccoon River Conference play with a 63-29 loss to the No. 4 ranked Bombers, who improved to 8-0. Sydney Bertman was one of the few bright spots for the Tigers, as she posted her fifth straight game in double figures.
For the second straight game, ADM played all 12 players on its roster, though this time because the team was on the wrong end of a blowout. The Tigers will take the following week of practice off for Christmas before getting back at it with their next game not for other two weeks from today.
In the boys game, ADM was only in the game for about the first six minutes, when the game was tied at 10. But Ballard took control with a run at the end of the opening quarter and cruised to a 84-52 win.
ADM was down 14 at halftime but was outscored 43-25 in the second. About 90 seconds into the third quarter, head coach Aaron Mager became so frustrated he took out all five of his starters in an effort to send a message to his players. Ultimately, ADM lost its fourth straight game and is now 1-5 overall and 1-2 in Raccoon River Conference play.
Sophomore Matt Larson scored a team-high 15 points for the Tigers. Four Bombers were in double figures, lead by senior Nathan Carlin’s game-high 17 points.
