Greene County lost a pair of Heart of Iowa Activities Conference wrestling dual meets in Des Moines on Thursday night. Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams were without sixth ranked and two-time State tournament qualifier Tommy Bradshaw at 145 lbs. due to an ankle injury. Saydel was a 39-28 winner over Greene County and CMB downed the Rams by a final of 33-27.

Rams that went 2-0 on the night were seniors Abe Yoder (132) and Jordan Challen (138), plus junior Keyden Pollock (182). Freshman Kane Borgeson (106/113), sophomore Isaiah Yoder (160), junior Mark Kendall (170), sophomore Hunter Ruth (195), senior Jamie Theulen (220), and sophomore George Zito (285) each went 1-1 on the night.

The featured match of the night was at 138 when the Rams met Saydel. Challen, ranked fith, won a 4-2 overtime decision vs. number six Austin Moen in a battle of State tournament veterans.

New rankings released yesterday from the Predicament show Abe Yoder breaking into the number 10 spot while Challen moved up one notch and Bradshaw stayed the same.

Greene County fell to 0-3 in the conference and 4-8 overall. The Rams close out the December portion of the schedule at Carroll High tomorrow for the Tiger-Knight Invitational.
