The public is invited to celebrate the second DAISY Award at a ceremony tomorrow morning at the Greene County Medical Center.
The award is given to an extraordinary nurse that exemplifies exceptional patient care. Over 1,700 medical facilities worldwide honor nurses with the DAISY Award for the past 15 years.
In August, the medical center’s first DAISY Award recipient was Jenny Taylor, director of clinical services. There were 13 nominees at the first-ever ceremony and at tomorrow’s event, there will be ten nominees recognized. Nurses can be nominated by family members, patients, caretakers, community members and co-workers.
Starting next year, the medical center will recognize two nurses with the DAISY Award in the spring and fall.
Each DAISY Award recipient will receive a certificate and a “Healer’s Touch” sculpture from the Shona Tribe in Africa.
The ceremony will be in the Long Term Care activity room at 10am on Thursday and the public is invited to attend.
