A Perry man was arrested on several charges Saturday after an accident that afternoon.
According to the Perry Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of 1st and Park Streets shortly after 3:30pm Saturday.
A crash occurred between a vehicle driven by Jamie Sue Kempf of Perry and Eduardo Becerra-Santana of Perry. Becerra-Santana left the scene of the accident but officers were able to follow prints to 1502 6th Street where they located the suspect in an upstairs apartment, armed with a knife.
Officers deployed a tazer on Becerra-Santana and he was taken into custody on several warrants including one from Perry police for aggravated assault, an obstructing police warrant from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, a business property damage warrant from the City of Clive and seven warrants from Urbandale Police for interference with official acts, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and four traffic charges.
As a result of the incident Saturday, Becerra-Santana was also charged with assault on a peace officer, interference with official acts, driving while license suspended, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance and failure to maintain control.
