Guthrie Center’s police chief Rod Pavelka gave his monthly report to the city council this week and says police activity was up over 30% this month from last–he says he attributes that to several cases of shoplifting at the local grocery store. Pavelka also recommended to police the eventual trading-in of his pickup truck for a new Chevy Tahoe. Though the pickup only has approximately 50,000 miles on it, Pavelka says it has needed some unusual repairs, will need tires soon, and can still bring in a lot of money on a trade-in. He also favors the more spacious interior of the Tahoe SUV. Chief Pavelka told the Council that he’s hoping to have money budget to make the transaction next Fiscal Year.
