Monday, November 10 is the first day of official girls’ basketball practice for high schools in Iowa, including Greene County. Head Coach Chad Morton has been at the helm for more than a decade and a mostly veteran team with quite a few seniors will be trying to improve on last season’s victory total of eight wins. Leading scorer Kayla Mobley returns after averaging 12.5 points and 7.22 rebounds as a junior. Mobley earned first team all-conference honors in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference a season ago. The 5′ 10″ senior is expected to be joined by several fellow seniors with a few younger players sprinkled in. Seniors Hannah Onken and Jolee Wessling were both honorable mention all-conference selections as juniors. Onken was the second leading scorer and rebounder at 6.1 points and five rebounds per contest. Wessling returns at the point guard position after leading the team in assists.
