We’re just a couple days away from one of the largest art festivals in Iowa, right here in Perry.
Art on the Prairie takes place Saturday and Sunday and features more than 100 Iowa artists. Event vice president Jenny Eklund says a lot of people probably don’t even realize the caliber of talent in the area.
“To have artists like this come, and local talent, Iowa talent, even in Perry and the surrounding communities, the talent that we have is simply amazing. We are blessed, we are so blessed” says Eklund.
And President Mary Rose Nichols you don’t have to be an art aficionado to be able to appreciate the works on display.
“One of the things we like best about Art on the Prairie is we do have fine art, we have fiber arts, glass art, we just feel that there’s something for everyone. And we hold it close to the Christmas and holiday season, we have our holiday open houses in our same weekend and we feel that so many things could even be purchased as gifts for Christmas” says Nichols.
The event takes place Saturday from 10am until 5pm and Sunday from 10-4 in seven downtown buildings. If you’d like to know more, visit ArtOnThePrairie.org.
