We now have more details on the incident early Sunday morning in Perry that resulted in the arrest of one man and hospital visits for two others.
Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn says it could have been a scary situation for officers.
“The officers were called to the 1300 block of 30th Street in reference to a subject that had been assaulted. The caller stated there was possibly a gun or some sort of weapon involved so they weren’t exactly sure what they were getting into when they arrived” says Vaughn.
Chief Vaughn says once on scene, officers found two individuals outside in a yard, one lying on his stomach and the other leaning up against a telephone pole. He says both men were taken to Dallas County Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, though what exactly caused the incident is not yet known.
“We did recover a gun from the location, outside the residence but we did not find any indication at this point that the gun was fired but it was used in the course of the assault.”
That suspect is 42 year-old Juan Ubaldo-Torres of Perry. He was charged with aggravated assault and the incident remains under investigation.
