This week is a busy one for the Dallas County Conservation Board, with several different events happening throughout the County.
The first event of the weekend takes place Saturday at the Forest Park Museum. Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says the Insect Sweep is a chance to stop and take a look at the life going on all around us. Participants will walk around the area near the museum, looking for stick bugs, beetles, monarchs, praying mantises and other insects.
It takes place Saturday from 1-3pm and attendees are encouraged to wear long pants and close toed shoes.
If you would rather not venture out into the wild searching for bugs, stop by the Forest Park Museum on Sunday instead at 1:30pm for the Military Veterans of Dallas County lecture. Firearms and military historian Justin Alliss will talk about the military careers of several Dallas County veterans who died in combat. He will also be able to appraise firearms, so attendees can bring their unloaded guns with them for Alliss to check out.
This program is also free but registration is required. To reserve your spot call 465-3577 today.
