The annual Greene County Development Corporation dinner was held on Wednesday night at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson.
Economic Development Director Ken Paxton says about 70 people attended to hear about the projects and other updates that GCDC has been working on in the past year. The night also included an introduction of the new executive board members and featured presentations.
The new executive board members for 2015 are president Chris Nation of West Central Cooperative, vice-president Sid Jones of Home State Bank, secretary/treasurer Jim Ober of Scranton Manufacturing, past-president Norm Fandel of Midland Power Cooperative, Jim Daubendiek of Jefferson Telecom and Rick Morain.
Paxton states that the featured presentations included updates on the Greene County Medical Center $22.5 million building expansion project, updates on the new Hy-Vee Incorporated location on West Washington Street in Jefferson, the new Bauer Built Manufacturing facility in Paton along with a new convenience store and gas station that is part-owned by Vaughn Bauer and an update of the new Wild Rose Jefferson facility.
Paxton adds that there was information shown about drone video from parts of Jefferson that they will be using in their county-wide marketing plan to attract targeted demographics later this year.
He points out two areas that he felt were new and exciting information that was shared at their event.
“The casino brought artist renditions of the inside of the casino, no one had seen those before, so it was kind of fun to see some drawings of what the inside of the casino will look like. The other thing was, not too many people know an awful lot about the new Bauer facility up in Paton so that was pretty much new information everybody was kind of excited to hear what’s going on up there.”
Paxton thanks everyone for coming to their event and adds that it’s an exciting time to be in Greene County with all the economic development projects happening in the community.
