What was already a light sports schedule at Greene County High School, became even lighter on Tuesday when the Dallas Center-Grimes cross-country meet was cancelled. DC-G Activities Director Steve Watson said the course was simply too wet to hold a meet. He added he can’t remember when it’s been this wet at this time of year. The DC-G meet will not be made up. Coach Kelly Simpson’s Greene County girls and boys were to have run at DC-G, so with the cancellation, the next meet on the Rams’ schedule is their own invitational in Jefferson on the high school grounds on Thursday, Sept. 11.
The Greene County volleyball team still has nearly a week before they open the 2014 season. Coach Donna Carhill’s squad will be one of the last in Iowa to play a game that counts in the standings. The Rams will host CMB (Maxwell) on Tuesday, Sept. 9 to begin the season.
