proposed law enforcement centerLast year, voters in Dallas County turned down an almost $22 million bond referendum to build a law enforcement center and new administrative facility in Ortonville.  This November, they face two separate bond issues, for two separate facilities, one in southeast Adel, the other in Ortonville.

While it’s possible this year’s referendums don’t pass either, Board of Supervisors Chairman Kim Chapman says truth of the matter is something needs to be done.

“The county Board of Supervisors will be faced with reviewing its options and adding additional space.  The bottom line is space is needed for county government to continue to operate and operate efficiently and effectively” says Chapman.

This year’s referendum is more than $6 more than last year’s proposal which Chapman says can be partially attributed to the fact that it was one combined structure.

“Cost savings for that reason, as well as it was being proposed to be constructed on county owned land, where the issue before the voters this November will will be acquiring property in the city limits of Adel.”

We’ll have more with Supervisor Chapman and architect Jerry Purdy on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS.
