The Jefferson Municipal Pool will be changing its hours once again this week.

Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says all this week, the pool will only be open for adult lap swim from 11:30am-1pm and then the pool will be closed for the rest of the day.

She explains why they will not be able to have the pool open in the afternoons for open swim.

“Well we have several veteran (life)guards, which they’re college students, when we started working on the schedule for that last week, we thought we had kids to work the schedule.  As we found out, kids were leaving and we were just not going to have enough guards to put on duty at the pool and be safe doing it.”

The final day the pool will be open for lap swim is Friday, August 29th.

Lautner adds that the annual doggie paddle will happen again this year following the final day that the pool is open.
