The full Greene County 4-H results are in for those who competed at the Iowa State Fair.

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Sarah Jo Reynolds says there were 28 purple ribbons and 34 blue ribbons awarded for livestock.  She points out that Noelle Gray from Jefferson was named champion for dog-open A bbedience, Samantha Hardaway from Jefferson was named champion for intermediate handling in the dog category and Bailey Godwin of Grand Junction was named champion in halter pony.

There were also five 4-H’ers selected as reserve champions for their livestock exhibits.  Abi Henderson was reserve champion chianina, Abby Bravard was reserve champion in simmental in market beef and maine-anjou in market beef, Conner Allender was reserve champion in junior handling in the dog category and Connor Gunn was named reserve champion for junior dairy goat showmanship.

As for the static exhibits in the 4-H Exhibits building, there were 21 blue ribbons and eight red ribbons awarded to several Greene County 4-H’ers.  Abby Badger from Bagley received a judge’s choice award for her child development exhibit and Godwin also received a judge’s choice award for her visual arts exhibit.

Lakota Larson received an excellence award for her communication presentation.

Overall, Reynolds was pleased with the 4-H results from the State Fair.

“Every year is a little bit different but this year I thought the static exhibits did really well this year.  We had a lot of blue ribbons and that’s always really good to see, also livestock, if you look at our ribbon results that we have posted, you’ll see that all of our Greene County exhibitors did wonderful.”
