Alex Rasmussen is used to being a starter on the football team for the Greene County Rams. As he enters his senior season, what may not be familiar is the position the two-way lineman will be playing. “I’ve move from tackle to center and that’s new to me,” he told Raccoon Valley Radio. The Rams will line up from scrimmage using both a direct snap to the quarterback and the shotgun snap with the QB anywhere from three to seven yards behind the center. “That’s new to me, so it’s a work in progress” Rasmussen added.

On defense, he plays on the end, which is quite a bit different than being the center on offense. He said playing defense is fun for him and he’s looking forward to the season. “I think we’re looking pretty good this year. We have a lot of returners, so we should have a good season.”

Rasmussen and the Rams host Panorama (Panora) this Friday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. in a “Sports Drink Scrimmage” at Linduska Field in Jefferson. Admission is a sports drink and fans may designate which team gets their donated drink.

The regular season for Greene County begins in Jefferson on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. vs. South Central Calhoun (Lake City) in a non-district game.
