The Jefferson Public Library is kicking off the 2025 Author Talk Series with a program on Tuesday.

Library Director Jane Millard says they will have a returning author, Ann Hanigan Kotz, with her third novel, “Moonshine by Moonlight” at 7pm on Tuesday at the Milwaukee Depot. Millard tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Kotz’ recent book is a fictional story about the bootlegging era that represents the underground whiskey scene in Carroll County during the prohibition time period. She points out that the presentation on Tuesday will involve actual events that took place in Carroll County, while intertwining history with fiction.

Millard adds that Kotz was part of a previous Author Talk Series in 2023 with her first novel. Kotz was an English teacher for 33 years and has been retired since 2021, as she has been living in Adel. She says there will be copies of “Moonshine by Moonlight” available for purchase on Tuesday and Kotz will also hold an autograph session after her presentation, and the book can be checked out at the Jefferson Library. The program is free and open to the public.
