Cover crop cost share assistance is now available for crop producers.
Officials with the Adair County Soil and Water Conservation District say that cover crops help farmers increase the productivity of their farmland. In the fall, cold-hardy grains are planted as cover crops in newly harvested fields. As they grow, cover crops recycle unused plant nutrients in the soil from the previous summer’s crop and reduce erosion by holding soil in place.
Crop producers can apply for up to four years of cover crop cost share assistance.
Submit your applications to the Adair County Soil and Water Conservation District located at 705 NE 6th Street in Greenfield.
