
In an emotional rollercoaster of a battle, the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs girls basketball team defeated the Carlisle Wildcats 31-30 to claim the Class 4A region 6 championship, punching their ticket to the state tournament. The Mustangs will face off against 21-2 Maquoketa Cardinals on Tuesday for the Class 4A quarterfinals with tip off at 5pm.
This is the fifth year in a row that the Mustangs work their way to the state tournament. Ballard would defeat the Mustangs in 2021 in the semifinals taking DCG out of the tournament. The Mustangs would fall to Xavier in the semifinals in 2022, fall to North Polk in the championship in 2023, fall to North Polk again in the quarterfinals in 2024, and now return to the state tournament in 2025 and first must face off against the #3 Maquoekta Cardinals on Tuesday to advance to the semifinals. Coverage will begin on KDLS at 4:45pm from the Wells Fargo Arena.
