The Iowa AAU Kids State Wrestling Championships are today and tomorrow in Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena. Third through eighth grade wrestlers from all parts of the state are taking part.

Sebolt Wrestling Academy in Jefferson typically has a strong contingent at this tournament. Among Sebolt’s standouts is Greene County eighth grader Johnathan Thompson of Grand Junction. Thompson will be competing in the 80 lbs. weight class for 7-8 grade boys where he is the number 2 seed in a 29 person field. Sebolt Wrestling Academy has a total of five entries in that weight class alone.
