
The AC/GC Chargers boys basketball team will be moving on to the Substate finals this weekend.
The Chargers traveled to Audubon Tuesday night and faced the IKM-Manning Wolves in District 15 Substate 8 action, and hit the ground running as soon as the game started. AC/GC couldn’t seem to miss, and quickly built a double digit lead, ending the first quarter up 23-8. They only piled on the score from there, ending the first half up 51-17. The Chargers slowed a little in the third quarter, finishing that with a 67-38 lead, but turned things back up in the final quarter, ending the game with the 83-56 victory.
The Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts Player of the Game was a team effort, going to the entire starting line up, as all but one were able to reach double digits in the game, with Mason Wahl just short with seven points including the made free throw on an and one opportunity. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game went to the play that ended the first half, where Jathan South got off a quick pass to Joe Crawford in the final seconds, allowing Crawford to take a quick one dribble side step to put up a buzzer beater three.
The Chargers girls are in action today at Norwalk, as they face the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rockets in the Regional final. Raccoon Valley Radio will have coverage of the game on K107.9FM KKRF, and the KKRF online livestream, with tipoff set for 7pm.
