The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Basketball team is one win away from advancing to the state tournament, as they face off against a familiar opponent tonight.

ADM will be traveling to Alleman to take on North Polk in the Class 4A Region 2 Championship game. The Tigers are coming off an exciting double overtime victory over Gilbert 65-58 on Saturday night, while the Comets handled Winterset 67-33. The two teams are apart of the Raccoon River Conference, and the Comets won the two meetings this year by similar scores of 60-35 and 62-35, and lead the overall series 10-1. ADM senior Kelli Storck tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Coach Danielle Craig has pushed a consistent message during the playoffs.

“Going into postseason, coach has said there’s three things that we need to win. We need stops, execution, and grit. And I think we’re going to need all three of those things honestly going into Tuesday. We’re going to need to get stops on them, we’re going to have to execute our plays and our defensive strategies and stuff, so that way they can’t run on us, they can’t finish on us, and then our grit. We got to do it all, it’s going to be a tough game, we haven’t won to them yet either this season, but we proved it can be done.”

Storck had 13 points in the semifinal game versus Gilbert, with sophomore Alexis Maxwell leading the way with 17 points. The Tigers are 15-9 on the season and the Comets are 21-2. Tonight’s action will be played at North Polk High School with tip off at 7pm, as Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF, starting around 6:45pm.
