Kirk Davis completed his final season as the head wrestling coach at Greene County High School last weekend at the State Meet in Des Moines. It’s hard to imagine a better way to go out than what Davis experienced as the final match he coached was for a State Championship in Class 2A at 157 lbs., Ram senior Brent Dennhardt won 5-1 over Tucker Wheeler of PCM (Monroe) in what was an all Heart of Iowa Activities Conference final.
The Rams finished 18th in the 2A team standings among the 96 wrestling programs in that class. Greene County also had a fifth place finish at 165 lbs. from sophomore Degan Miller, plus one or more victories from sophomores Brennan Jacobs and Jaron Jacobs, plus senior Gavyn Winters. Senior Marcus Ball was also a State qualifier.
