The Perry football team is getting set for their fifth day of organized practice today as the Bluejays gear up for the season opener August 29th against ADM. Head Coach Jason Olejniczak is excited about his team’s energy level and has been impressed with their early season work ethic.
“So far. so good. The weather has certainly cooperated and we haven’t dealt with 90 and 100 degree days like we have in the past. The attitude and energy levels have been really good so we are thrilled about that.”
Unofficially, Perry reported around 70 kids out for the sport from the freshmen through senior age group. The Jays have graduated smaller senior classes the past 2 years so that number has Olejniczak a little disappointed.
“I guess times have changed. I was a little disappointed with the numbers who reported. I think unofficially that we are a handful lower than the previous two years. It’s still a good number, but I guess I am a little disappointed.”
The Bluejays will feature a deep offensive line and a returning All Stater in Will Whiton. Follow the Perry Bluejays during summer camp daily with Shawn Kenney at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
