The City of Adel recently made changes to better accommodate online users with a new website design.
According to City Clerk Carrie Erickson, Adel’s website has not been updated in a decade and city staff wanted a more modern look as well as providing a more user-friendly service to people. She points out that another factor was that the federal government is requiring all local municipalities to convert their websites to a “dot gov” domain by 2029, but Erickson believes that the city should take care of it now before they forget. She highlights a few of her favorite features about the new website.
“One of the big things is on the home page, there’s an alert banner on the top right. It’s a way that we can just get some quick information. Also, under our ‘news and events,’ I feel like that’s laid out a lot better for people to access those types of things, and a ‘how do I’ section where they can apply for permits and forms, or recreation activities, how they can contact us, how they pay bills, and report issues.”
Erickson indicates that another feature that will be coming soon is a newsletter section where people can access local events happening in the area. She mentions that the website was officially unveiled in the third week of January and that it had been in the works behind the scenes for a number of years.
