The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a couple of programs coming up.

According to JPRD Assistant Director Henry Pohlmeyer, kids in third through sixth grades are encouraged to sign up for the Indoor Youth Soccer program. This is a fundamental camp where participants will learn about soccer in a different environment, with specific skill building in footworj and balance. The program is happening on Tuesdays and Thursdays from February 24th-March 6th, with U10 players from 5:30-6:30pm and U12 is from 6:30-7:30pm at the Greene County Community Center.

Pohlmeyer points out that the Greene County High School varsity soccer coaches and players will be leading the programs, with the cost for community center members of $15 and non-members are $20.

The other program is for adults with Spanish Lessons. Multicultural Family Resource Center Director Sara Huddleston is going to be the instructor as she said at last Tuesday’s Greene County Development Corporation meeting that there has been such a high demand for these classes for adults, JPRD has scheduled a new bunch of classes.

According to JPRD, the beginners class is on Wednesdays starting tomorrow through March 12th from 5-6pm and an intermediate class will be on Fridays starting this Friday from noon-1pm, with both taking place at the community center. The cost to participate is $35 for community center members and $40 for non-members. Click here or call the community center at 515-386-3412 to sign up for either program.
