The Warren Cultural Center still has their solo art exhibit up and invites everyone to come and check it out.
The exhibit titled ‘Alchemy: Transforming Historic Copper into Art’ features copper that was salvaged from the 1896 Warren Opera House building restoration that was completed in 2012. Local Greenfield artist Deb Houghtaling has transformed the pieces into beautiful art such as jewelry, ornaments and various wall art.
Houghtaling is mostly a self-taught artist and her favorite things to do is take material considered trash such as metal or glass and transform them into jewelry or art. However, she did take a class 12 years ago in Chicago.
The exhibit is on display now and runs through August 28th. All artwork is for sale and there will be demonstration on August 20th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the gallery.
