Tonight there will be several cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles on the downtown square in Jefferson for the annual Hot August Night event.
Greene County Chamber Director Chris Henning says the four streets around the square will be closed for the event starting at 1pm. Registration for the show begins at 4:30pm with motorcycles on the east side of the courthouse, tractors will be along Lincoln Way and all other vehicles will be scattered around the square.
Food will also be served during the event by the Greene County Chamber and the Jefferson Kiwanis. The menu includes hamburger or pork loin sandwiches, chips, vegetables and water for $5. Otherwise, there will be free watermelon for everyone to enjoy provided by the Jefferson Fareway Food Store.
Everyone can vote for their favorite kinds of vehicles and the winner will receive the People’s Choice award for car, truck, tractor and motorcycle along with a Spirit Award to be given out.
Plus, you can join Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio from 4-8pm for live remote updates from the southwest corner of the square.
Finally, a new movie, “Grease” will be shown at the Sierra Community Theatre at 8:15pm.
