The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office of Dallas County is hosting a Strengthening Families Program in Perry this fall.
It’s geared toward parents of youth between the ages of 10 and 14 and takes place at the middle school on Monday evenings.
The seven week series starts on September 8th and will focus on problem solving approaches and ways to effectively communicate with your son or daughter. Each session is two hours with the first one being a discussion with the parents and the second uniting families for activities used to solidify their relationships.
Research shows that for every dollar put into the Strengthening Families Program, $9.60 is returned to the community due to a reduction in substance abuse treatment and less involvement with law enforcement.
Sessions start at 6:30pm, though there is a free meal each Monday during the series at 6:00.
