The Panora Chamber of Commerce will be starting up a new community service event this year.
Chamber Coordinator Erica Matthies says that at the organizations CommUNITY Gala on February 1st, they also announced the start of an event they’ll be calling Community Impact Day. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the details of what this new event will be.
“That will require individuals and businesses to fill out a form to request help, and we are teaming up with the (Panorama) school (District). So businesses and students will be assigned to different volunteer opportunities throughout the community.”
Matthies continues that the Chamber will only be coordinating labor for the community service projects, and not providing financial or material assistance. She explains that an example of this would be a business or individual needing help painting. The individual or business would purchase the paint and brushes, and then the Chamber would assign volunteers to the project.
