The Perry Public Library is giving patrons an opportunity to connect with reading in a way that revolves around the theme of love.
Adult Services Librarian Mindy Farmer explains that the library is encouraging people to go on a blind date with a book during the month of February. She details that librarians have books selected from the tween, young adult and adult sections, and have wrapped them up with a blind date card inside, which reveals clues about the contents inside. Farmer tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she’s anticipating seeing people trying something new.
“People really like getting book recommendations. I find that when we put things on display, people will try things that they haven’t before. Sometimes we get stuck in a rut, or we only try the same kinds of books. So this really is an opportunity to just take a chance and see if maybe you can get outside of your reading comfort zone.”
Farmer outlines that once people are done reading the book, they are invited to give their review to the librarian with their thoughts on the suggestion. The program will be running the entire month of February.
