Several students from Perry High School will participate in a state competition taking place in March.

According to  Activities Director Tina Lutterman, the Academic Decathlon Team recently took part in regionals at both Urbandale High School and The Kurtz Opportunity Center in Des Moines, where they finished in fourth place in the small school division. Lutterman states that during the competition, eight students engaged in giving prepared and impromptu speeches, along with being tested in math, science, social science, music, art, literature, and economics. Individually, Ashley Robles placed first in social sciences for her academic level, Elyssa Hodges was also first place in social science for her academic level and Berve Poulard was first in interview.

Lutterman says the fourth place finish puts the decathlon team inside the top 24 in the state and it gives them a chance to participate in the state competition that will be held in Waterloo on March 7th and 8th. The full list of students on  the decathlon team can be found below.
