The Mustangs advance to 8-5 after traveling to Gilbert High School for the Gilbert Showcase on Saturday. The Mustangs found success against the Tigers, picking up a 66-57 victory bouncing back after a tough loss to Ankeny Centennial on Friday night.
It would be a back and forth battle for the Mustangs and the Tigers in the first half, with Gilbert putting up an impressive 21 points per quarter to take a 42-35 lead going into the halftime break. Coming back from the break, the Mustang defense would lock in, only allowing the Tigers 15 points in the entire second half, while scoring 31 to pull ahead and take a 66-57 victory. Kyle Cason would bounce back against the Tigers, scoring an impressive 36 points with 12 rebounds.
The Mustangs are back in action tomorrow as the Mustangs travel to Newton High School to take on the Cardinals. Double header basketball action begins at 5:45pm on KDLS2, as the girls tip off at 6pm.
