With inflation continuing to rise, an Iowa senator finds it crucial to support families financially.
District 14 Democratic Senator Sarah Trone-Garriott shares that in having conversations with several business leaders, the number one concern relates to the workforce, which in turn is impacting childcare. She explains that Governor Kim Reynolds discussed making changes to pre-kindergarten education and childcare worker wages in her Condition of the State Address. Trone-Garriott believes that these will bring many benefits to Iowans.
“Pre-K education is one of the best investments we can make. Every dollar invested in Pre-K education generates about $6 in economic benefit because their kids have better long-term outcomes, and thinking about workforce, those are our future workers.”
Trone-Garriott wishes that Governor Reynolds would’ve brought up the issue earlier as she points out that $240 million went towards private tuition for kids already enrolled in private schools. Trone-Garriott believes that money would’ve helped families needing assistance with childcare.
