A Jefferson man was sentenced to a short term jail sentence and probation after pleading guilty to an amended simple misdemeanor charge.
According to court documents, 46-year-old Dale Ganoe pled guilty to the simple misdemeanor charge of assault, which was amended from the original charge of a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for domestic abuse assault. He was sentenced to 30 days in the Greene County Jail with credit for time already served and will then be placed on probation for one year with the Boone/Greene County Probation Services.
The charge stemmed from an incident on May 18, 2024. A Jefferson Police Officer responded to the call of an assault at a home in the 400 block of East Perry Street. The victim claimed Ganoe forced his way into the victim’s bedroom and struck her in the head. A witness tried to stop Ganoe and he threatened to kill the witness, so the individual grabbed a baseball bat and struck Ganoe in the head. Court documents show that authorities eventually found Ganoe and when he was arrested he was taken to the Greene County Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
Ganoe was also ordered to pay over $150 in a fine, surcharge and court costs. The no contact order with the victim was terminated.
