Last night it was a battle of the Wildcats as the West Central Valley Wildcat basketball teams traveled to Glidden-Ralston High School to take on the Wildcats. The WCV girls picked up a 56-22 victory while the boys fell, 55-39.

In the girls contest, West Central Valley took the lead early and never looked back, outscoring Glidden-Ralston by 10 points in the first. With the score at 13-3, West Central Valley’s defense continued to impress, holding Glidden-Ralston to only 5 points to claim a 26-8 lead going into the halftime break. Coming back from the break, Glidden-Ralston would begin to fire up scoring 10 points their highest scoring quarter of the game, but West Central Valley would continue to hold the momentum, scoring 10 points of their own to bring the score to 36-18 going into the fourth. West Central Valley would continue to find success in the final quarter, holding Glidden-Ralston to only 4 points while scoring 20 of their own to claim a 56-22 victory

For the boys contest, Glidden-Ralston took the lead early and held the Wildcats to only 7 points in the first. With the score at 12-7 to start the second quarter, West Central Valley would not be able to gain momentum, only scoring 6 points for a halftime score of 31-13 in favor of Glidden-Ralston. In the second half, West Central Valley would begin to gain momentum, scoring 14 points in the third and 8 in the fourth but would still come out short, 55-39 to Glidden-Ralston.

Both Wildcat teams are back in action tonight as the Wildcats travel to Pleasantville High School to take on the Trojans. Basketball action begins with the girls at 6pm.
