Greene County hosted Ankeny in Thursday afternoon high school bowling, and had it’s wrestlers in Monroe for a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference double dual meet with PCM and South Hamilton (Jewel). The Rams won the boys’ bowling match 2,775-2,341 to improve to 3-2 while the Hawks are now 0-5. Ankeny won the girls’ bowling match 2024-1,797. The wrestlers lost to PCM 40-36 and won 58-12 vs. SH and are 7-6 in dual meets and 4-3 in conference meets.
Freshman Trinity Hull led the Greene County girls with a two game series of 322, second highest in the met to Ankeny’s Brooklyn Dietz at 326. Senior Allison Fields was second on the Greene County team with a 290 series, followed by Rozella Helms 234, Hayleigh Rivera 202, Alivia Cornell 172, and Elizabeth Lizzy Long 146. Hull had a high game of 164 and Fields had a 162 high game.
The boys from Greene County were led by sophomore Trystan Cummings with a 417 series including games of 215 and 202. Sophomore Chase Fecher rolled a 231 game and 402 series. Sophomore Danein Hull had a 288 series with a 214 game, followed by junior Teagan Chisholm with a 354 series.
Forfeits were rampant in Thursday’s wrestling at Monroe. The Rams went 9-5 in matches that were contested on the mat. Two past State place winners met at 157 lbs. when the Rams and Mustangs squared off. The Rams Brent Dennhardt rolled to a 16-0 technical fall vs. Tucker Wheeler. Dennhardt won in :09 vs. SH. Seniors Marcus Ball, Crew Conner, and Gavyn Winters, plus sophomores Degan Miller, Brennan Jacobs and Jaron Jacobs, all went 2-0.
The Rams are wrestling in Perry at the Blue Jays tournament on Saturday.
