The Greene County Fair Board is delighted with all of the donations that have come in and are hoping for even more as they look to make a noticeable improvement to the fairgrounds.

Fair Board Vice President Katlynn Mechaelsen says they are over half-way to their estimated $25,000 project to install a new concrete backdrop for photo opportunities for exhibitors and their livestock. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Fair Board wants to install five concrete panels with its highest point being ten-feet. The panels would include a photoographic background, along with FFA and 4-H logos, along with donor plaques.

Mechaelsen says the structure would be located in the grassy area to the south of the show ring as an additional photo opportunity for exhibitors and their livestock to enjoy during the Greene County Fair. She appreciates all of the donations that have come in so far and reminds people that there are four sponsorship levels, ranging from $100 to $750, but she will accept any amount. Mechaelsen encourages people to donate as a way to honor a loved one or their family to be permanently attached to the structure.

Mechaelsen adds that all donations need to be made by February 1st and that the Fair Board will be applying for a Greene County Community Foundation grant and every donated dollar helps with that effort. Donations can be sent to Mechaelsen at the Greene County Treasurer’s Office in the Greene County Courthouse, or dropped off to any Fair Board member.
