Multiple agencies responded to a structure fire late Sunday night in rural Bouton.
According to Minburn Assistant Fire and Rescue Chief Dan Case, first responders were sent to a barn in the 16,000 block of N Avenue along Highway 169 around 10:30pm. When firefighters arrived on scene, the barn was completely engulfed in flames. Case reports that firefighters were able to contain the fire to the barn, but enough damage was done that it is considered a total loss. He explains that single digit temperatures can make it challenging to fight fires, as equipment has a tendency to freeze up, but Case says that no issues presented itself Sunday night.
Case tells Raccoon Valley Radio that crew members remained on scene for two and a half hours and that there were no injuries to any occupants. He shares that an unknown number of swine that occupied a portion of the barn are unaccounted for at this time, and adds that the fire is still under investigation. Along with the Minburn Fire and Rescue, the Perry Fire Department, Bouton Fire Department, Woodward Fire Department, the Dallas County Emergency Medical Services, and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office all assisted.
Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
