A historic trail that goes through Dallas County is pushing forward with its next project phase in the first half of 2025.

Dallas County Conservation Director Curt Cable shares that the Raccoon River Valley Trail will be undergoing rehabilitation work on the south loop from Waukee to Linden, and through the City of Adel. He details that the majority of the construction is taking place in Adel east of the lighted bridge. Cable outlines that the asphalt will be replaced with new concrete from Adel to County Road R16 in Ortonville, and complete all the bridges along the route as well. He mentions that work should be starting sometime this winter, and he asks for residents’ patience during the process.

“I know that people are maybe a little frustrated with all the closures on the trail. Just be patient with us and we’re trying to make the improvements for you and your safety, and we’re excited to get this started.”

Cable reports that once phase four is complete, the trail will be left alone until phase five is set to begin in 2027.
