The Jefferson Public Library is hosting the 16th Annual Adult Winter Reading Program.

Library Director Jane Millard says this year’s theme is “We’re With The Banned” and she describes that the program will cover a variety of areas, including lots of movements, rights and privileges that have been banned throughout history, along with books. Millard points out the program includes reading books, an activity packet and attending other programs and events.

Millard says one of the most enjoyable parts for her during the Adult Winter Reading Program is hearing from the participants of what they think, what they know and what they like to talk about.

“And I just want to stay open to that and have conversations with our readers. Everyone’s opinion matters to me, and we’re not going to be controversial or political, that’s not our goal. Our goal is to share the enjoyment of reading and learn together.”

The program is from January 10th through March 22nd and it is free for anyone over 18 years old. Stop by the library or call 515-386-2835 to learn more or to sign up.
