Perry basketball shared the court with the newest members of the Heart of Iowa Conference last night.  Grand View Christian ruined an evening centered around dedicating the Perry basketball court to the late Dan Marburger.  The Thunder swept the night winning both contests.  They knocked off the Jayettes 43-37 and Bluejays 107-75.

The top team on the boys side of the Heart of Iowa Conference flexed their muscles.  The Thunder remain undefeated while the Bluejays drop to 6-4.  Both offensives were clicking in the first quarter as GVC took a 25-22 lead.  The first 11 points of the second were scored by the Thunder as they rolled to a 55-34 half time lead.  The Thunder offense grew the lead to 26 entering the fourth.  Final 107-75.

The Jayettes losing skid has reached 9 games after last night’s loss to the Thunder, 43-37.  Perry sits at 3-9.  GVC built a lead of nine after eight minutes, 17-8.  Lily Myers scored 13 first half points at Perry trailed 31-15.  The Jayetes stormed back, thanks to 10 points in the quarter by Taryn Nehring, to make it a seven point game entering the fourth.  The Jayettes couldn’t complete the comeback as they fell 43-37.

Perry travels to Greene County on Tuesday.  Perry swept the doubleheader with the Rams back in December.
