A mobile home caught on fire in the early morning hours in Stuart on Thursday.

According to the Stuart Assistant Fire Chief Stephen Martinson, a fire broke out in a trailer home along North Gaines Street around 5:46am, and as crew members arrived on scene, flames were visible on the mobile home. The Stuart Fire Department confirms that the lone occupant was out of the home by the time they got to the scene. Crew members believe the cause of the fire was the starting of a wood burning stove. According to the fire department, they were able to extinguish the fire within several minutes, but the structure is considered a total loss.

There were no injuries to fire personnel or the occupant of the home. Agencies that responded included the Stuart Fire Department, Menlo Fire Department, Dexter Fire Department, Redfield Fire Department, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, Stuart Police Department, and the Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Agency. Raccoon Valley Radio will continue to bring you more information as it becomes official.
