With Greene County Medical Center transitioning to a new cataract surgeon next fall, patients needing those services can still get them in the interim.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Laurie Connolly says their previous Wolfe Eye Clinic in Ames provider moved to another state and they have hired a new individual who does not start until the fall of 2025. However, she states that for the time being, Dr. Steven Anderson who is also with the Wolfe Eye Clinic in Ames, will be providing cataract surgeries at the medical center.
According to the medical center, Dr. Anderson is a board certified ophthalmologist and specializes in cataract surgeries, including complex cases. His credentials include an undergraduate degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota with honors, he earned a medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. He is an educator as an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Minnesota and trains other surgeons across the country and globally. Dr. Anderson also has affiliations with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Iowa Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the Christian Ophthalmology Society.
Dr. Anderson is continuing to see patients at Greene County Medical Center in December, along with February, April, June and August. Anyone seeking eye surgery must get a referral to schedule an appointment with Dr. Anderson.
