Greene County hosted Roland-Story (Story City) last night in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference boys’ basketball gamein Jefferson.The girls’ game was postponed due to a lack of available players for Greene County.
R-S led from start to finish and was never seriously challenged in route to a 60-28 one-sided victory, their eleventh in a row vs. Greene County. A 14-0 start and cold shooting by the Rams set the Norsemen up for their second win vs. four losses, and they are now 2-3 in the conference. The Rams are 0-4 in the league and 2-5 overall. R-S led 42-9 at the half and had the running clock with a lead of 35 points in their favor midway through the third period.
Twelve R-S players scored points, led by 15 from sophomore Eli Van Hove. The Rams were led in scoring by junior Nathan Towers with seven points. Junior Teagan Chisholm and senior Caden Chisholm each added six points. The Rams had 22 turnovers to 14 for R-S, and Greene County made 10 of 42 shots from the floor. They were five of 21 on three-point attempts. The Norsemen were red hot in the first two quarters, then cooled off to finish 21 of 48 overall and seven of 14 beyond the arc.
