Paton-Churdan played a girl/boy basketball doubleheader last night in Churdan with non-conference opponent Colo-NESCO, then hosts Rolling Valley Activities Conference opponent CAM (Anita) this afternoon to end the December portion of the schedule. C-N won the girls’ game in overtime, 37-36, followed by a 75-51 victory over the Rockets in the boys’ contest.

The P-C girls came within an eyelash of their first win of the season. Leading 16-6 at halftime and still holding a narrow lead down the stretch, C-N tied the score 29-29 at the end of regulation last night. The Royals out scored the Rockets 8-7 in overtime and the Rockets fell 37-36. Sophomore Kaliyah Minnihan scored 16 points and sophomore Ella Tasler added eight for P-C. C-N did not have a player reach double figures in points, but nine different players scored.

The boys’ game saw sophomore Trevon Keely score 27 of the Rockets’ 51 points, but it wasn’t enough to earn a victory. Junior Phoenix Harman scored 11 points and no other P-C player had more than four. C-N scored 20, 20, and 21, in the first three quarters en route to improving to 4-2 on the season while P-C fell to 1-4.
