Greene County High School wrestling was in a double-dual meet last night and will wrap up the December portion of the schedule tomorrow with a 14 team tournament. Coach Kirk Davis’ Rams were in Des Moines last night at Saydel High School where they lost via criteria, 43-42, vs. Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponent Saydel, then fell by a 54-25 score to Creston in non-conference action. The Rams fell to 2-5 in dual meets and 1-2 in the conference. Saydel is 2-3, 2-1, while Creston won both dual meets to improve to 7-1.
Rams going 2-0 on the night were Brennan Jacobs (106), Jaron Jacobs (113), Gavyn Winters (120), Crew Conner (150), and Degan Miller (175). Jacob Harmeyer (138) went 1-1. Miller won via two falls, with Conner and Winters both collecting one fall and one win by technical fall, The Jacobs twins each collected a forfeit, vs. Saydel. Brennan won by fall vs. Creston and Jaron scored late to win via decision, 5-3.
Greene County forfeited five weight classes in each meet and collected three forfeits from Saydel and none from Creston. There were 14 total matches that Greene County wrestlers actually wrestled, and the Rams went nine and five in those.
The Rams are in the Carroll Tiger Invitational tomorrow starting at 10 a.m., then the break for the Holidays begins.
